I’m kinda bummed about the Rondo trade. Obviously the Celtics are going to run spin right now and say they are happy – so I’m not willing to drink the kool-aid. I’m a little worried about the future of basketball in Boston. Who do you build around?


After three years of rumors and shopping him on the open market, the Celtics finally pulled the trigger on a trade that sent their four-time All-Star point guard out of town.

Boston traded Rajon Rondo to Dallas, in exchange for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson and a future first- and second-round draft pick.

Wright (and potentially Crowder) are the keepers from a player perspective, but overall, the Celtics — now going all-in on a full-fledged rebuild after deciding that Rondo was not in the team’s plans for the future — will value the draft picks out of this deal more than anything else.

And somehow, that means they got plenty in return for a player with Rondo’s resumé.
